Vincent Deschamps, CEO, Echopass, and Chairman of the Board
Vinnie brings to Echopass a successful background and proven track record as a sales, marketing and business executive in the communication industry.
His career includes roles as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for five publicly traded companies including VMX, Octel Communications, Lucent, Avaya and AccessLine. Prior to joining Echopass, Vinnie was the Vice President of Sales for AccessLine. In that role, he led AccessLine's successful sales efforts in the hosted mobility services market and key relationships with Hewlett Packard.
Prior to that he was the General Manager/Vice President for Avaya's worldwide Unified Communications line of business. In that role, he led Avaya's relationships with industry leaders Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Compaq, and IBM. Ronald joined New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 1991 and became a general partner in 1995. NEA provides venture capital to companies, concentrating on early stage companies in the areas of information technology and medical and life sciences. His investment activities are focused on software, principally infrastructure and business applications targeting the enterprise, as well as IT-based service opportunities.
He currently serves on the boards of Echopass, LENDX, Perfect Commerce, PolyServe, Scheduling.com, Sierra Atlantic and Stratum8 Software. Before joining NEA, Ronald was with Berkeley International, focusing on information technology venture financings.
Previously, he was with Advanced Micro Devices and Eastman Kodak. Ronald received an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.

John V. Balen is currently a general partner at Canaan Partners. Canaan currently manages roughly $2.0B in investment capital. The company advises companies on tactical operational issues and positions companies strategically to help exciting companies grow quickly, substantially, and intelligently.
Prior to joining Canaan Partners in 1995, John served as a Managing Director of Horsley Bridge Partners, a multi-billion dollar private equity investment firm headquartered in San Francisco, California. During his nine-year tenure at Horsley Bridge Partners, he was responsible for a wide spectrum of investment in venture capital partnerships, buyout partnerships and high technology companies.
Earlier in his career, he was an engineer at Codenoll Technology Corporation, fiber communications start-up, and Digital Equipment Corporation. John received a BS in electrical engineering and an MBA from Cornell University. He currently serves on the boards of Command Audio, Commerce One, Critical Arc, Echopass, Everdream, Iteration Software, and Voiceweb.

Managing Partner Carl Nichols co-founded Outlook Ventures in 1995. With more than 19 years of experience in the software, computer, telecommunications and consumer products industries, he has held senior executive positions in the strategic planning, business development, operations management, market development, and finance departments of several major companies.
Before joining Outlook, Carl headed strategic and financial planning at SBC/Pacific Bell, an $8 billion telecommunications and Internet service provider, where he identified new growth opportunities and business lines, developed strategic partnerships, and optimized the company's investments. Previous to SBC/Pacific Bell, he was Vice President of Strategic Business Management at Scrivner, Inc., a $6 billion packaged goods distributor.
Carl spent six years as a management consultant to Fortune 500 clients at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, prior to Scrivner. His Fortune 500 clients included computer manufacturers, broadband service providers, retailers and financial institutions. Carl also served at AT&T's Information Systems International business.
He has represented Outlook on the Board of portfolio companies such as Epicentric, MarketHome (acquired by ClickAction - N: CLAC), Arthas (acquired by Yahoo - N: YHOO), Logilent, and Kinecta (acquired by Stellent - N: STEL).
Carl received a BS degree in computer science magna cum laude from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard's Graduate School of Business.

Chris Hadsell is a member of the founding team at Cardinal Venture Partners (CVP) and is a General Partner at the firm. CVP provides venture capital to early-stage technology companies. CVP's experience as investors, entrepreneurs, and operating managers in high-growth companies positions it to provide entrepreneurs with strategic counsel, financial resources, recruiting, and business development contacts.
Prior to CVP, Chris was CFO at Benchmark Capital and was Associate and CFO at Alpha Partners. Prior to venture capital, Chris held finance, sales, marketing, and business development roles with Symphony Medical, CooperVision, and Cooper Laboratories. Chris represents CVP on the board of directors of Echopass and IP Infusion.
Chris received his B.A. in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley and London School of Business.

For over 15 years, Bruce was Chief Financial Officer for high technology companies, including Avanex Corporation (AVNX), WaveSplitter Technologies, Walker Interactive Systems Inc. (WALK), Reel.com (now part of Hollywood Video) and VMX, Inc. (originally VMXI, now part of Avaya). Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer for a large telecommunications distributor.
His management responsibilities as CFO have spanned finance, accounting, legal, business planning, investor relations, corporate governance, IT, risk management, human resources and facilities. He has helped to raise in excess of $100 million in private equity capital and has been through the IPO process. Bruce has negotiated and closed many M&A transactions, both as a buyer and a seller, as well as countless other complex commercial transactions. As Chief Financial Officer, Bruce has been an integral part of several senior management teams and has worked extensively with company boards of directors, investment bankers, venture capitalists, commercial bankers, big four accountants and senior legal counsel for his companies.
Bruce earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Washington. He also has an MBA degree from the Haas School of Business (UC Berkeley), a JD degree from Boalt Law School (UC Berkeley) and is a member of the California Bar.
